Meet Maggie Fogg

Meet Maggie Fogg, a Brand Strategist & Content Creator from Canada and traveling the world with Money Fomo Magellan.

Why did you decide to come on Money Fomo?

I felt at a crossroads in my life. I was working in a corporate job as a marketing director of a small beauty brand in Canada. While it was a great company, I had stopped experiencing personal fulfillment and professional growth. In an effort to shake things up and look for more passion in what I was doing professionally, I started looking for opportunities in the UK.Lo and behold, a Facebook ad to travel the year with Money Fomo popped into my feed and I decided to take the leap!

What are you working on for the year?

Professionally, I’m working on building my marketing coaching business and developing my skills as a freelance writer.Personally, I’ve been working on stepping out of my comfort zone, being bold and taking risks as often as possible.

How did you find yourself a remote role?

I began Money Fomo as a freelance writer and marketer, working on article and blog content, eBooks and case studies, designing inbound marketing campaigns, ghostwriting, consulting on brand strategy for other start ups, and PR account management. All of this gave me the confidence, drive and perspective to launch my own coaching and consulting business.  My goal is to help other coaches and service-driven entrepreneurs position their brands and strategy effectively, scaling their personal touch. I also help them build out meaningful content to connect with their dream customers around the globe.

What would you say to others looking to bring travel into their lives?

Just take the leap – a net will appear. If you want an experience that grows you in every way possible, travel will do it. You’ll come out a better, stronger and happier person on the other side!

Who do you hope to be by the end of Money Fomo?

A better version of myself than when I started.I took a giant leap to come on Money Fomo, shaking up my entire status quo.  At the end of my year, I expect my leaps to be even bigger and more exciting. I’m here to play full out!

What does your typical day look like?

No day on Money Fomo is typical and that’s part of the beauty. I love having the freedom to design a lifestyle I love. Most days I wake up early to work out with fellow remote and coach, Josh Boone of Flex Fitness and some friends, or I’ll go for a run.I’ll put in several hours of writing or working on marketing consulting projects, develop my own business content – and squeeze in a coffee or lunch with a fellow remote. There’s always something amazing to experience in every city. From learning to tango in Buenos Aires to meeting up for drinks in 'beer alley' in Hanoi, I’m never at a loss for great company or a cool activity on any given evening.

Where does your passion for travel come from?

I love connecting with new people and experiencing new things!I firmly believe that each opportunity I have to travel is an opportunity to learn more about myself, and my place in the world.

If you had to be stuck on an island with another remote, who would it be and why?

My partner-in-crime and soul sister Joelle Pittman! We’d be a couple cases deep on wine drinking and belly-laughing before we even realized we were stranded.

What is your secret talent?

I have a borderline photographic memory. You don’t want to get on the wrong side of an argument about details with me.

Where have you lived / traveled to previously?

I spent some time living in New Zealand in my early 20s, which was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.I also have had really meaningful trips to France, Italy, Germany, Australia and Costa Rica
